The old Student Union being demolished to make way for the new one. Kantner Hall can be seen in background. The Athens City Building steeple is straight back. The bell tower to the right belongs to the Methodist Church (later burnt and rebuilt with different style steeple) .
OU purchased the Masonic Hall in 1922 as a men’s center. The Men’s Union became the coed Student Union in 1939. In the late 1940s post-WWII student population explosion, a temporary Rec Hall on the College Green across from Howard Park was added. The Student Union was demolished along with the dwellings on either side of it (used as faculty clubs), to make room for Baker Center (Old).

Via University Archives.
Since this was replaced by Old Baker, that’d make this Union St. See that guy sitting on College Green watching? That’s EXACTLY what we’d all have been doing.
